Challenger hops are a versatile English variety with a sweet, fruity aroma and hints of cedar and green tea. It has medium intensity and can be used for bittering and finishing characteristics. They are ideal for use in English-style ales, brown ales and pale ales. Challenger is a granddaughter of Northern Brewer and niece of Northdown. It was bred at Wye College and introduced in 1972.
