New Zealand Wakatu hops have a pronounced earthy-sweet floral character with notes of tropical fruit. It is moderately intense with a fresh lime zest and citrus aroma and the flavor is sweet with clover, honey, hay and blossoms. Wakatu was initially released in 1988 as New Zealand Hallertau and was bred from an open pollination of Hallertau Mittelfruh and a New Zealand-derived male.
