Dingemans Special B is a dark, Belgian crystal malt produced by an unusual double drying process. It imparts strong deep red to dark brown colors. The taste is rich, with a raisin-like maltiness and hints of nut and plum. It adds a full body and complex malty aroma. Special B is a good substitute for roasted malts like chocolate or black malt when a rich character without bitterness is desired. It can be used in any dark beer recipe and is often found in classic including Abbey ales, dubbels, porters, brown ales, and doppelbocks.
